The Altoona Area School District has established a reputation for innovation and excellence. With a student population of nearly 8,000, Altoona Area is one of Pennsylvania's largest school districts. It encompasses 60 square miles and includes the city of Altoona, Logan Township and a small portion of Tyrone Township.
In early 2002, the Altoona Area School District achieved its goal to attain certification as an ISO 9001 school district. To date, the Altoona Area School District is one of the few districts in the United States that has been certified to the ISO Standard.
