Altoona Area School students shall demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and mathematics on either the State assessments administered in grade 11 or 12 or local assessments aligned with academic standards and State assessments under Section 4.52 (relating to the local assessment system) at the proficient level or better in order to graduate.
Students who do not pass the State assessment in grade 11 must take the State assessment in grade 12. Students who do not pass the State assessment in grade 12 must pass the local assessment in order to graduate.Pennsylvania Certificate of Proficiency / Pennsylvania Certificate

| Students who attain a score at the proficient level or better on State assessments in reading, writing and mathematics administered in grade 11 or 12 shall be granted a Pennsylvania Certificate of Proficiency. Students with disabilities who meet assessments with appropriate accommodations shall be granted a Pennsylvania Certificate of Proficiency. |
