About Us

The Center for Advanced Technologies opened in early 1994 as a partnership between the Altoona Area School District, the GACTC, and the local regional and national educational, business and government communities.

The Center offers classes and summer camps, which teach students how to use computers, multimedia and other advanced technologies, so that they will be more competitive; not only in the classrooms, but also in the workplaces of their lives.

Teachers, school administrators, adult learners, and other community members benefit from workshops, seminars, and other Center programs designed to help them understand how to use these same advanced technologies in their work and in their lives.

Businesses, corporations, government organizations, and community groups have formed particularly unique partnerships with the Center for Advanced Technologies, through the development of sales, training and public information presentations. These projects help make the organizations more powerful in their communication with customers, employees, and the other populations which they serve. These partner relationships allow the Center to deliver meaningful projects, while realizing other sources of revenue, ehich is then available to help support other important activities of the Center.

Mission Statement

The Center for Advanced Technologies, a partnership between educators, businesses, government, and the community, is dedicated to the mission of using computers, multimedia and other forms of new technologies to help students acheive, educators teach and businesses succeed; all in light of the competitive environment which they face now and in the century ahead.

The Center for Advanced Technologies is dedicated to serving as a telecommunications hub for the community, delivering projects to businesses, educational services to students, teachers and administrators, while also serving as a community resource; all in a fashion marked by a total commitment to quality and value.
