AASD Achievements

  • The U.S. News and World Report listed AAHS as one of America's best high schools in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
  • McAuliffe Heights Program at Irving Elementary (2007) and Juniata Elementary (2013) were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools
  • 116 AAHS students have earned National Merit Commended Student status since 1990.
  • In 2015, AAHS had 41 AP Scholars; one US Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist; one National Merit Scholar; and one National Merit Finalist.
  • Five AAHS student musicians earned PMEA All-State honors and one earned NAfME All-National Concert Band recognition.
  • The AAJHS online paper, Livewirehttp://aajhslivewire.com/ received the Gold Crown Award and Gold Medalist rating from Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
  • AAHS Mock Trial Team won its first PA State Championship in 2014 and won the Yale University Bulldog Invitational Mock Trial Tournament in 2015.
  • Six AASD TSA members (three high school and three JR. High) advanced and competed at the PA TSA Leadership Conference and Competition.
  • The AASD Foundation has raised $4 million for innovative classroom projects thanks to generous donations from alumni, local businesses, AASD employees and retired staff.
  • Project SOAR (Study, overcome, Achieve and Reward), an AASD Foundation initiative, is in its sixth year.
  • The school district boasts a growing national Alumni Association comprised of over 3,000 members.
  • Proactive security measures and a strong Student code of conduct have helped maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Pleasant Valley Elementary was recognized as a 2014 Reward High Achievement School and a 2015 Distinguished School.
