Mon - Thurs. 9AM - 11AM and Mon. - Thurs. 12PM - 2PM

Evening Class - Tuesday and Thursday 5PM - 7PM
Classes are limited to 5 learners/class, so that social distancing can be enforced.
Contact us to enroll in our free High School Equivalency/GED Prep classes or Brush-up Reading and Math classes to prepare to enter college or career training.

The AASD Adult Ed Program is recruiting Volunteer Classroom Aides to provide in-class support to our learners preparing for their High School Equivalency credential or brushing up their math and reading skills to enroll in college, career training or employment opportunities. 
Volunteers must:
- be over 18yrs old 
- have a high school diploma or equivalent
- be available to volunteer at least 2hrs./week  
- work under the direction of our instructors

The AASD Adult Education Program takes great pride in assisting

adults to achieve their educational and career goals.

The Altoona Area School District's Community Education Center was established in 1969. For over 50 years, the Center has provided adult educational opportunities in Blair County. 

The program is contracted to serve adult students annually through funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  The Altoona Area School District offers free adult education classes for adult learners participating in adult basic education (ABE), GED, and preparing for post-secondary studies. 

The  AASD Adult Education program  is located in Altoona at  The ArtsAltoona Center, 2212 6th Avenue, Altoona. All programs and materials are provided at no charge to the participants.

Adult Education Programs:

  • Develop and /or improve employment skills
  • Improve reading, writing, and math skills
  • Preparation to enter LPN/Medical Classes
  • Obtain a GED
  • Prep for Post-Secondary Education
  • Get started on a Career Path
**Inclement Weather Notice** 
When the Altoona Area School District cancels classes, the AASD Adult Education Program is closed.
When the Altoona Area School District is on a 2-hour delay,
the AASD Adult Education Program starts classes at the normal time of 9:00 am.
