The AASD Adult Ed Program has moved to the ArtsAltoona Center, 2212 6th Avenue, 2nd Floor, Altoona!
The AASD Adult Education Program and ArtsAltoona will bring a wonderful balance of educational and cultural opportunities for adults and families in our Blair County community.

Update on Classes - COVID-19 Guidelines

  Classes will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9AM-11AM and 12PM-2PM. Adults wishing to enroll must call the AASD Adult Ed Program (814) 946-8330 to reserve their seat.


  For the health & safety of our staff and learners, classes are limited to 5 learners per class.  Walk-ins are not permitted. Temperature checks will be done upon arrival. Masks are required.


  Anyone who has traveled to areas with spiking Covid-19 case numbers during the past 2 weeks are asked to wait 14 days before enrolling in or attending classes.

‚ÄčThe AASD Adult Education Program takes great pride in assisting

adults to achieve their educational and career goals.

The Altoona Area School District's Community Education Center was established in 1969. For over 50 years, the Center has provided adult educational opportunities in Blair County. 

The program is contracted to serve adult students annually through funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  The Altoona Area School District offers free adult education classes for adult learners participating in adult basic education (ABE), GED, and preparing for post-secondary studies. 

The  AASD Adult Education program  is located in Altoona at ArtsAltoona Center, 2212 6th Avenue, Altoona. All programs and materials are provided at no charge to the participants.

Adult Education Programs:

  • Develop and /or improve employment skills
  • Improve reading, writing, and math skills
  • Preparation to enter LPN/Medical Classes
  • Obtain a GED
  • Prep for Post-Secondary Education
  • Get started on a Career Path
**Inclement Weather Notice** 
When the Altoona Area School District cancels classes, the AASD Adult Education Program is closed.
When the Altoona Area School District is on a 2-hour delay,
the AASD Adult Education Program starts classes at the normal time of 9:00 am.
