Under the direction of Governor Tom Wolf, all schools in the Altoona Area School District will be closed beginning Monday, March 16 until further notice. Online options are available to those who have enrolled.

This includes the AASD Adult Education Program.  Classes are Canceled.

‚ÄčThe AASD Adult Education Program takes great pride in assisting adults to achieve their educational and career goals.

Monday 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Tuesday 9:00 am - 7:30 pm
Wednesday 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Thursday 9:00 am - 7:30 pm
The Altoona Area School District's Community Education Center was established in 1969. For over 45 years, the Center has provided adult educational opportunities in Blair County. 

The program is contracted to serve adult students annually through funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  The Altoona Area School District offers free adult education classes for adult learners participating in adult basic education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), and those working on obtaining their GED. 

The Community Education Center is located in Altoona at 200 E. Crawford Avenue. All programs and materials are provided at no charge to the participants.

Adult Education Programs:

  • Develop and /or improve employment skills
  • Improve reading, writing, and math skills
  • Preparation to enter LPN/Medical Classes
  • Obtain a GED
  • Prep for Post-Secondary Education
  • Get started on a Career Path
**Inclement Weather Notice** 
When the Altoona Area School District cancels classes, the AASD Adult Education Program is closed.
When the Altoona Area School District is on a 2-hour delay, the AASD Adult Education Program starts classes at the normal time of 9:00 am.
