“Each year, I’ve sent the Mountain Lion BackPack Program a holiday gift in honor of my staff,” said Dr. Prijatelj. “This year I challenged my staff with a matching gift pledge. This program continues to have a positive impact on our students and our families. We are honored to be a small part of its support.”
The Mountain Lion BackPack Program serves Altoona Area School District students at each of the eight elementary schools. Students are provided a backpack of food for 32 weekends of the school year. Each backpack can be filled at a cost of $3/backpack – about $100/year/student. The gift from AASD Administration will feed approximately 25 students.
The Mountain Lion BackPack Program is 100% community funded supported by volunteers, fundraising and donations.
