AASD Adult Education Program Open House

AASD Adult Education Program Plans Volunteer Open House

Are you interested in becoming a Tutor for adults? The AASD Adult Education Program is planning an Open House for Tutors and Classroom Aides on September 24, 10 am to 2 pm at their location 200 E. Crawford Avenue, Altoona. Learn how you can impact adult students and help them prepare for the High School Equivalency (GED® or HiSET®), learn English as a Second Language, or brush up on math, reading and/or language skills.

Plans are underway for Hindsight 2020 - one last farewell performance for the AAHS Auditorium. Calling all AAHS alumni and alumni tech crew who may be interested in being part of this cabaret-type performance.

AASD Adult Education Volunteer Spotlight

Connie Letscher had been tutoring in the AASD Adult Ed. Program for almost six years when asked to "Bring a Friend" to a Professional Development session. She brought her best friend, her husband of almost 40 years! John and Connie have logged over 502 hours of tutoring in the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

AASD Announces 2019 CARE Award Recipients

Two Altoona Area School District teachers received Educator CARE Awards during the AASD Staff Opening Day Session on August 21, 2019.
These awards are presented annually to an elementary teacher and a secondary teacher who have demonstrated Commitment, Achievement, Responsibility and Excellence in the classroom.
