Educator CARE Awards

Educator CARE Awards recognize professional staff who have served the students of this District with "COMMITMENT, ACHIEVEMENT, RESPONSIBILITY AND EXCELLENCE."

The awards are presented at the beginning of the school year. CARE Awards will be given to one secondary educator and one elementary educator. Persons on sabbatical leave during the current school year are not eligible for the CARE Award. All nominees must be in the classroom teachers' bargaining unit.

Nomination forms will be available in the principal's office of each school or on the Intranet.

Nominations can be made by AASD employees - an individual, a group, a department or a school faculty. Please do not nominate relatives.

IMPORTANT: Nomination forms must be typed so they can be easily read by the selection committee. Feel free to use the nomination form as a cover sheet and attach the documentation to that sheet.

NOMINATION FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO PAULA FOREMAN, COMMUNITY RELATIONS DIRECTOR, no later than May 15th

Each year, there are many well-qualified nominees who are not selected for the award. Staff members are encouraged to revise and update the forms used to nominate these teachers in the past so they can be re-submitted this year.

There are many outstanding educators in the Altoona Area School District. You are encouraged to give serious consideration to nominating and recognizing those teachers who exemplify "Commitment, Achievement, Responsibility and Excellence."
